Women Entrepreneurs (From Bloomberg Businessweek)

It's been really hot these days. I find only few people on the road beside commuting hours in the morning and at night. Most people are inside of buildings and their home to get air-conditioned. Me too while I'm at work :P

I remember that my mom always told me not to use air-conditioning much to avoid getting sick in summer. I was trying to be away from her words because she was saying to me over and over again. But this is very true now and that's why I haven't gotten sick so far this summer :)

In the office, I found one business magazine called "Bloomberg" as you may know. It is one week late one but I took it in my hand and read it since there is an interesting title saying, "Closing the venture capital gender gap". The article is about how women entrepreneur gets funded for their star-up businesses from scratch.

I don't think there is any gender-related discrimination to determine the offer to fund for women leading businesses but the data in the article says "Women entrepreneur gets less than 7% funded by venture capital" in the start-up businesses. There might be the case where most women are very prudent to start their business. It's still risky for women to run their own business because running start-up companies are time-consuming and women might lose their essential opportunity like getting marriage, pregnancy, and raising their kids. These events are generally better if they are younger and women might have to sacrifice these events. (Of course, they can manage it with others support.) For men, it's easier to recover and come back again as tradition since there are more jobs for men even they failed business in their field.

As man, I would like to work with entrepreneurial women and keep up the innovation from business because there is always man-side and women-side to perceive the market view. It would be nicer if the business goes with both side advices for discussion, negotiation, and invention. I'm currently preparing my own business and will start on January 2011 upon my graduation and want some man and women who's holding big ambitions and dreams to innovate and change our market.

What do you think as women entrepreneur?

Stay Tuned.
