I'm writing this blog at "Second Cup" as usual :) It's still hot today here in Ottawa.....an average is over 32 Celsius. Well, my job is to keep me inside of air-conditioned office and the heat don't hurt me much though :P
While I'm working on one my projects, I received one email from Amazon saying "The Kindle application is available for PC now!".
???What??
The Kindle is available for PC? Then, most people just gonna use their PC, not buying Kindle? Amazon just released Kindle DX international 2. Does Amazon want to kill their products on the fly from market?
Kindle DX international 2
(Wider screen and
a little thinner
compared to the last one?)
Original Kindle
(a little smaller screen
than DX2 but much cheaper.)
As we know, it is iPad :)
From these 3 devices, what I perceive what Amazon think of the "e-book reader" is more software than hardware as platform of e-book reader.
Amazon may think of hardware is as just one car driven by one driver. The car is not much important as the driver because we hate bad driver who's in BMW :P (BMW is good car but it does not guarantee good driver...)
If Amazon can take the most of the e-book reader software in the market, Apple might have to be drawn from market because user will choose Kindle instead iBook to read e-books.
iPad is not designed solely for reading e-books but also a variety of ways to use like Presentation, Gaming, and Communication with others...etc
So iPad does not focus on the e-book functionality. This means Apple does not much care of it. Apple is making profits from other software products too and they see the e-book reader is "just one" of their market. But actually the e-book reader market have big potential next couple of years. It is said that there will be 2.5 billion dollars in 2013. (source:DigitalMediaWire)
How come Apple can ignore this?
Amazon released Kindle application for iPhone and iPad too.
Kindle v.s iBook?
Which of the platform will make big profits?
....Don't forget the "Google Books"...They're preparing "Free Books"......
How come they don't make use of 2.5 billion market?
2.5 billion dollars e-book sales market is not as much big as Google see.
It will be more than that....They can put Google AdWords in the "Free Book".
This can direct readers from "Free Book" to "Sales Book" and any items related to the book contents....so many advertising opportunities.
Who's gonna be winner in the e-book market?
Stay Tuned.
